SCAFFOLDING IN CLIL SECONDARY
David Marsh once described CLIL as a form of free and open teaching source which empowered teachers and students to develop key skills and compentences and deepen the joy and flow of learning.
Scaffoding is a paramount strategy which helps lessonn planning and supports the learning process from beginning to end.
Donna Fields was responsible of this course in the Centro de Formación del Profesorado en Idiomas which was attended by Secondary content teachers from Castilla y León.
We were engaged by the variety of activities, materials and tools that can be used to help students reach their goals.
Scaffolding also takes into account a variety of classroom management strategies to lower the students' axiety and to become open and engage when dealing with lessons and complex contents by approaching it in different ways and using a variety of means, from cognitive to manipulative ones.
And last, but not least important, scaffolding also helps learners to build their self-confidence by making the classroom a stress-free environment alowing them to experiment with the target language.
